When I worked at Eating Recovery Center, I’d sometimes lighten the mood in groups with some Eating Disorder trivia. I know, I know- for an average person eating disorder trivia sounds very UN-light. But in a 12-hour day where most of the other minutes are spent talking and thinking about how difficult one’s own eating disorder is, learning some of the history about those who have recovered from EDs, almost seems fun.
To be clear: disliking one’s body is not synonymous with having an eating disorder. However, since poor body image is a major symptom of eating disorders and since intense disliking of one’s size or shape provokes many to modify what they would otherwise eat, I do reference eating disorders in these articles. February 21-25 is Love Your Body Week as well as National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, so let’s celebrate with some trivia!
