Saying Grace
As we continue to enhance our relationship with eating, especially as it contributes to a positive body image, the concept of GRACE is important to include.
Not only the value grace, but also the practice of saying grace before a meal.
Without it becoming a theological discussion, consider how it might benefit to take a moment of gratitude before you begin to consume…
It could be the Thanksgiving Dinner version of gratitude where, when we go around the table everyone parrots that what they are grateful for is “family and friends!” (Isn’t there anything more you can express gratitude for?! Stop copying!)
Grace before a meal could be 30 seconds of reflecting on what is going well, what is lovely, or what is nice: for you, for someone you love, or even for someone you've heard has something good happening.
Beyond the opportunity for gratitude, making room in our lives for grace means spending a moment to recenter and remind ourselves how much better life is when we are experiencing it fully. When we are 100% present to experience a meal or a snack.
Or a bite of your coworker's breakfast taco.
